Owasso

Owasso is a rapidly growing city in northeastern Oklahoma, spanning both Rogers and Tulsa counties. As the largest northern suburb of Tulsa, it lies within the verdant “Green Country” region—known for its hills, woods, and lakes. Initially incorporated as a town in 1904 and later chartered as a city in 1972, Owasso evolved from a small railroad settlement—its name deriving from an Osage word meaning “the end” or “turnaround”—into a thriving bedroom community for Tulsa, and today it’s a diverse center of business and residential life. As of 2022, Owasso’s population stood at about 39,328, reflecting strong growth since 2010 (when the population was around 28,915).
